The Flotrinkian Team knows that there are more than 2008 adventures to make in a lifetime. Why, you can even have 2008 adventures in a single year! And because 2008 is a leap year, it's time to start bouncing around, skipping to work and finding the time to fly that kite. :)
The Flotrinkian team has been busy, the one member awestruck on how familiar and similar Christmas and New Year's here on this side of the world with the Manila side for many reasons:
1. All you do is eat. This member is not complaining! You can't complain when there's always a plateful of cookies in front of you, a good beer within easy reach and a stock loaded fridge. Not to mention a near messy kitchen and a pile high of dishes to remind you to never cook this much again. But of course, no one can say no to food. And to good food at that!
2. All you do is complain about eating again, while of course reaching for the next cookie.
3. Festivities are always marked with singing and prayers and laughter and "Kainan na!" (Time to eat!" And the best thing about the Cheezy holidays is that you always spend it with people you love. Sure, there's the occasional Holiday battle, be it on Wii or on who's turn it is to cook or wash the dishes!
4. Of course, after much eating, there's much relaxing. And I'm proud to say, that Holidays in Germany are very much like the Holidays in my house: eating, napping, lounging to watch some Cheezy Christmas movie and then cooking/eating and the whole cycle begins again.
But that's just Christmas!
New Year's is marked with fireworks, loud singing and too much alcohol. In the Lat house, we make sure to jump at midnight, turn on all the lights and open all the windows and doors to let the good luck and the pollution in! And hey, here in Germany, New Year's is one of the few times it is socially acceptable to be loud, unruly and environmentally unsound!
