Going with the Flo

We're leaving for Coron on Flo's birthday, Feb 23, 2007 and we plan to party it up tonight because then we celebrate some accomplished goals (hopefully) my PDTS music video concept, Gerald video design, Sleepover Shoot Task List and MOST IMPORTANTLY, The first few completed pages of Flori's thesis script. It gets a little bit hard to work with Flori around, because it's so much more fun to show him around, shop for his card tricks, take stupid pictures, or to just talk about his thesis, my rumor mill update list of "Oh My God, So and so are together--you met him, don't you remember etc" or our observed differences between Germany and the Philippines and How Filipinos eat 10 times a day and eat nothing but sugar.

Sometimes going to 7-11 can be quite time consuming.

Flori: Shit. I'm really thirsty. Isn't there anything that isn't sweet here?
Trinka: Hmmm...
Flori: I think I will just get some juice and mix it with water.
Trinka: We have water in the office.
Flori: But I want some bubbles. Don't you have bubbly water?
Trinka: What about this (points to this shitty Summit Flavored water"
Flori: But it's already flavored. Should I get this small bottle of water?
Trinka: I told you, we have water in the office.
Flori: Well, whatever, I'll just get these. (Grabs some orange juice and apple juice)And maybe this bubbly sports drink. What do you think?
Trinka: Hmmm...
Flori: Shit, your drinks are so unnatural. It's unhealthy.
Trinka: Are you hungry?
Flori: Let's get some instant noodles!

HA! AND WE ATE 5 PACKETS OF DISGUSTING MSG INSTANT NOODLES along with Flori's diluted local orange and apple juice. Hahaha. I feel so bad that I can't find anything healthy for Flori over here. MOst drinks are just made of water and sugar and most food in general just contain air and sugar. Good thing we get along with spicy stuff, so we just look for that instead. GOod thing this German likes rice.

Well. Today, 3 gays chased him down Megamall lane trying to sell him real estate stuff and last night, during a BLAST OPLE gig at Purple Haze, Quark dedicated a song to Florian and regaled him with a sexy lap dance. Nice.

Too bad I don't have video evidence!

And so. Here's my birthday blog entry for Furrybee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ESSIG.

I don't have the real thing for you. So this will have to do. :)
Tralalalala!

A Road Trip around Manila

Well, well. Team member one is really good in writing interesting stuff into this blog, so I have to catch up on that by writing about our first official road trip. Actually, I just found out, that there is a composer for writing that posts, so this makes things quite easier to post, because I used that stupid html-editor before, trying to fit those pictures there where I want them. HAHAHAHA. Now I just need to find out how to label my pictures, which is awesome in Trinkas posts.

The road trip was after Mt. Pinatubo the second ride out of Manila and it's always interesting how many faces the philippines have. There are very poor destricts in Manila, but on the other hand super wealthy parts. There is polution in some areas but wonderful nature in other parts. So far I think, I will get surprised a hundred few more times before I have to go back to Germany.

Well, the road trip was sooper much fun. Obviously, everyone can afford his own driver here, so that we didn't drive on our own. This slowed down the road trip a lot, HAHAHAHA, because our driver wasn't the quickest, but on the other hand there was much time to see the landscapes, those huge mango trees, people working on rice fields, the chaotic traffic and much more.
Those are actually those things which interests me most about other culture, because touristy places are the same all over the world. I once told Trink that I don't like churches. It's not that they are not impressive, of course, but those huge cathedrals are often just a tourist-magnet and you don't witness the real life of people, how they pray, how they live and what they feel. That's why often the little churches are much more interesting than those huge tourist-cathedrals.

The driver took us to mainly 2 places outside Manila: A couple of art galleries in Rezal which is the art capitol of the philippines. And Laguna a nice lake where we took a windy boat trip. These art galleries were really interesting and I liked Eroll taking us around, who is a local artisian. Art is really colourful here, and often politics is displayed and commented. I like that it is more concrete than in Europe, because it shows how people think about their situation, their life, their feelings.

Well, if haven't eaten so much lancones the day before I could have witnessed much more and talked to Trinkas friends some more, but due to that little stomach-problem I was busy not-feeling dizzy and not puking. HAHAHAHA. Well, it wasn't too bad, so I enjoyed the trip anyways. But now I definitely know that I need a pullover all the time here. In Germany it's EITHER hot OR cold, but here it's always a change of 20 degrees, because people use to have their air condition on 15 degrees while it is 30 degrees outside. But now I feel much better, ready for new food-adventures. I should have a single post on that food issue, because I never ate so much things I can't even spell. And I never ate so much stuff, of which I thought it is not possible to eat. HAHAHAHA.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Well, not really, but to the edge of one of the most destructive volcanoes in the Philippines---Mt. Pinatubo. I dragged Florian to my Imago shoot for a good road trip and he got his first feel of Carabao Horns, Rattling Jeepneys and his first taste of Chow King and Volcanic Ash. I think all in all, a very good experience for both of us.

What I still can't believe is that such a beautiful wasteland was really something else before the 1991 erruption. People come up here to hike in the dry months. When the monsoon season starts, then, it's a wet wasteland, and the gray landscape is just a massive river where no one can fish or really swim in.

But the Philippines is magnificent in all its chaotic and destructive nature. And I'm at that age (and frame of mind) when I can actually appreciate this.

Manila Airport, Feb 3, 2007

Well. It's quite surreal to have to pick up Team Lässig Member 2 from the airport. And I was always imagining it in my head what it would be like when I see Essig again. And as usual, he wasn't where he was supposed to wait, and I was looking out for a lost beardy man. My stomach flipped when I saw him, looking around, backpack on shoulders and huge ass suitcase in tow, and I approached him saying, "ARE YOU LOST?" (When the question was more for me maybe hahaha, I mean, talk about surreal) And "hey!" Team Lässig reunited once again. Yay!

Nice. Welcome to Manila Flo!

Cheers to the next 2 crazy months!

Singapore - asian version of Las Vegas without gambling

Well. One part of Lässig is doing therapy again, so I think it's up to me to continue this blog. Actually, I just want to use the space to post some pictures of Singapore, because I wasn't able to do very much in Singapore, due to the lack of sleep. But I think I should write some stuff anyways.

Reflectively, I think it was wrong getting only 30 Euros in Singapore Dollars. I calculated: 16 S$ the cab 18S$ and another 30S$ just in case I need them, BUT: I forgot: cab to the city, cab going back home, cab going back to the airport. Which means I was standing somewhere in a dark place of Singapore trying to find a money exchange which doesn't make you feel comfortable, when no one really understands what you want.I think it's not worth telling every step in Singapore, but generally I think Singpore is all about shopping, partying and looking pretty. Shopping at the market, shopping food, shopping drink, shopping crazy fruits, shopping cloth, going out and making party.

Bugis is some kind of an open air market, while Clarkes Quay seems to be the party zone with hundreds of restaurants, clubs and discos. There is even a disco which is completely hospital-styleThe hostel I stayed at was pretty nice, but it wasn't very central, that's why I didn't expect a 30mins ride to go downtown. But at least I had a beer with some austrlian guy and an english girl at midnight. AND: They spared me an alarm clock, so that I didn't miss the plane to Manila, which I was afraid of, after getting no sleep for about 20 hours. All in all Singapore was a nice head start, and I think it's a nice city, even though it's only about shopping and partying. The most interesting thing was indeed the traffic light sound, which has a 20sec count down accompanied by a crazy, laser pistol peng peng sound design. So, I think I should at least post the picture of that traffic light. HAHAHAHAHA.
Well, well. I think that's all about Singpore the world needs to know. It's time for Lässig-team-member one to write some stuff, because the blog needs some craziness. I'm thinking of an useless statement now, to finish my post, but I guess I'm too much making sense today. So, what? hmm... I don't know. pfft. Astig ako. (Did I spell this correct, Trinka???) There we go! HAHAHAHA.

a few thousand miles closer

After successful reunion of Lässig, this is the first post of team member number two a few thousand miles away from Germany. So far, the journey was sooper pooper interesting and even the flight was quite enjoyable, even though I didn't expected it to be. But once the plane is up in the air you are so much concentrated on eating food, watching movies and listening to music, that 12 hours flight are done pretty fast.
Nevertheless, I took one of those pills to get some sleep, but I guess I am the only one who doesn't even realize any effect of that sleeping pills. I wasn't even tired!! I think I should have asked that 2 asians right next to me, because they were sleeping right away before the plane had even started. EITHER they had even stronger pills, OR they fell in kind of a chinese meditation sleep or whatever. They didn't even moved their face muscles when I laughed at them, but who cares. HAHAHAHA. I should have asked for their technique, though!

At least I had some fun at the plane to singapore, so that the flight from singapore to Manila was almost routine. The only difference was my neighbour. This guy from Germany was much more talkative than those asians, so that it was interesting listening to him. He (who flew from amsterdam to manila) has 8!! girlfriends on the philippines. HAHAHAHAHA. He even didn't know the exact number by his own, counting them for me a few times and thinking about their names. Well, he said it's okay as long as you don't promise them anything. So, I would say that he is definitely one of the sex tourists which fly to the philippines. But I'm surprised, because I didn't expect a friendly 30 year old guy to be a sex tourist, but rather some 60 year old fatties. So, this guy was really nice planning to stay 1 year on the philippines now, to organize his life. HAHAHAHA. I bet he has 20 girlfriends by the end of the year! CRAZY people!

Due to the fact, that it is 4:15 now, and that I have to meet my team member in 45mins I can't write about singapore this time, but I can promise it's a crazy city.
